The Power of a Scent

When researching the customer's journey within a retail store, I thought it would be an interesting development to investigate the smell within a store and the lasting effect it may have on an individual.
When researching, Lavender seemed a very popular scent in retail spaces. This is primarily due to it's calming properties and relaxing customers, which encourages them to spend more time in the shop and hopefully purchasing an item or two.
Bergamot also seemed a popular scent within retail. This is mainly because it is considered a unisex and not too 'floral' and feminine.
Therefore, when creating my fabric sample board I used Lavender oil and The White Company's 'Seychelles' to fragrance the box. As scent is considered your longest senses, I think it is important customers remember the scent and associate it with the store.
